I find the CO2 at low pressure does the job, the check valve stops it pushing the beer through. :thumb:
The cask breather will just keep the CO2 at even lower pressure. I had intended to buy a breather later on, but have found that I have not really neeeded one :D

Cheers for the answer, could I ask how long your beer keeps using this method as I,ve only ever used gas and taps.

I would also like to know this as well as:

Whats your method when you have finished supping? disconnect the disconnect pull through beer in pipe. Put the disconnect in a bucket of water and pull some through?

There's no reason why the beer should keep any less than gas and any other tap.

The wastage comes from what is sat in the beer engine, I don't use mine often for this reason and so when I finish using it I disconnect from the corny and clean it all out - water first and then ideally line cleaner ( although hot oxi clean also works ok ).

IIRC correctly there are some plans on the forum for adding in another bit of pipe in order to be able to flush the BE and leave it all connected up, but I have never done this.

EDIT: - this is based on not using a cask breather - I don't know if this makes a difference as I have never used one
