Will you be using the handpump whilst connected to CO2 ? My check valve conveniently does that line change as well :thumb:

Oooo good point. I will be using a check valve!!!

So do you go straight 3/8 from disconnect to check valve? :thumb:

Yes, my check valve 'in' is a John Guest 3/8" fitting. The out is a barbed fitting for the larger tube :thumb:

Awesome, Problem solved.

How long a line do you guys have to the check valve?

Mine is probably 4 or 5 feet, purely down to getting from the fridge to the bar.

Make sure you keep the carbonation low and you should be fine :thumb:

Cheers!

Do you have an aspirator on other side?
what PSI do you set to?
Also, do you prime the keg?

I just have the check valve :thumb:

I never prime kegs - I force carb, keeping it around 2 - 3psi stored at 12c

tbh I don't use the beer engine that often, as you do get some wastage if using for a pint or two a night. For a party quite often the CO2 gets disconnected before and I just have a gas in disconnect on the corny with some cotton wool stuffed in it to stop beasties - but you have to be pretty confident you will finish the keg ( or at least within a couple of days ). If unsure just leave the gas connected.

Cool, what I am thinking of doing is brewing a 9l batch, easily drinkable in one night between a few.

Putting this straight into the corny, opening PRV valve and supping, no c02 to carbonate etc, with the means of getting an aspirator if it all works

Also, is it like a pint pub when you have the gas connected at that psi?

Guys
Any chance of some pics of the check values etc?

Interested in how you get this set up working.

From what I have read on here the connections for a Handpull Beer Engine and a Cornie are as follows:=

Gas Bottle - Cask Breather/Aspirator - Gas In Cornie Post - Beer Out - Check Valve - Beer Engine - Glass - Joy :D

Here you go:

grey pipe goes to corny, other is the beer engine in

I think its pretty close to a pub pint served like that ( although I think mine is better  ). The check valve stop the excess pressure coming through the beer engine, and its so low it is not overly carbed. :thumb:

Can I ask why your not using a Cask Breather to compensate for the Co2 pressure loss or are you using your gas connected at very low pressure to blanket the Beer so it doesnt oxidise in a few days.

I intend on getting an aspirator, just want to confirm the method and the result is ok before I spend 40 plus on a breather
