Would it be possible to condition beer in a KingKeg, transfer it to the corny minus the secondary sediment and the re-gas the beer?
Would this overcome the portability issue for parties etc??
ETA.....with having good access to gas, what would people recommend....CO2 or CO2+N mixture?

Yes, that would work fine. I don't bother with secondary, I go straight from primary to keg. The first couple of pints tend to be cloudy but it clears well after that. The issue is of course that moving the keg around will stir the sediment up again. If I'm taking beer to a friends I'll push a keg of clear beer from the keg that still has sediment in the bottom but is dispensing clearly into another clean keg and this leaves the sediment behind without risking oxidation, works great. However, what you propose would also work.

Regarding the gas, it largely depends on what style of beer you intend to brew and your personal preference. If you like the 'creamflow' type beer or stouts then you'll be wanting either 60:40 or 70:30 C02/Nitrogen, if you just want a decent pint of beer or intend to make a fizzy lager you'll be wanting C02.

I've just replaced my 7Kg C02 bottle after 15 months of usage (and there was still a bit left in the old one) and it cost me £10. It had easily done over 60 kegs and this includes me being extremely wasteful to begin with as I was new to the kegging scene back then.

I did have a LOT of help I hasten to add. :) It's surprising how fast they empty when hosting a party and they get a taste of your all grain beer goodness! :)
