Corny kegs are the way to go!

Tried my Saaz lager for the first time tonight and what a difference it has made being in a keg.

- Nice and cold
- A lot more hop flavour and aroma
- Good carbonation level

Yes the beer is still cloudy, due to a chill haze and my beers always have been, I just need to get over the stigma that cloudy beers are bad.....I know they are not.

Anyway, if you are thinking of getting into kegging...DO IT! Sure beats cleaning 40 bottles.

nice one, i was attaching my gas lines to my co2 and to my keg to make sure everything was ok ahead of sanitising them tomorrow to prepare for my first 2 brews. cant wait to get them in the keg.
did you force carbonate or leave it for a few weeks? i know ive asked this before but its interesting to hear other peoples methods, when you were ready to pour, did u just turn the psi down to serving pressure while connected to the keg straight away or did u have to unplug gas, let the excess co2 out first, then pour at serving pressure? thats the only bit im confused at, some folk have said that would send beer up the gas line due to the sudden change in pressue but others have said the regulator will adapt to the change in pressure.

I force carbed for a few days, it could actually do with a bit more. Just left it at 20psi for 4 days at 5 degrees.

To dispensed the beer I used the formula :

Beer Line Length Formula:
L = P( -(H x .5) – 1 ) / R
Where:
L = length of beer line in feet
P = pressure set of regulator
H = total height from center of keg to faucet in feet
R = resistance of the line from the following table
1 = residual pressure remaining at faucet (this can be increased to 2 if you need to increase
pressure to increase dispense rate)

Which worked out for me 1m of 3/16th line as its in my keggorator.

I just turned it down to 5psi, but I suppose if you did turn the gas off....make sure to remove the disconnect first then turn it off. The pressure in the keg will allow it to be dispensed.
