OK I am new to these things but am I missing something? I have two new kegs and I cannot get the lids to seal without using CO2 pressure... is this normal? I thought I would try purging a keg in readiness for filling using the CO2 from my fermenter. I filled the keg with star san and fitted the lid then conected the spunding valve to the keg and all I got was CO2 escaping from the lid! I disconnected the spunding valve and gave a blast of gas and it then did seal... but the amount of gas I used was enough to empty the keg anyway... what the point??
edit
I take it that leaving kegs with star san in is ok?

That little bit of gas is miniscule compared to the madness of bottling
To be honest I am thinking of moving over to just corny kegs but the problem is I do not have enough space for a fridge in the kitchen as it is fully fitted out so having cold beer would be a problem. Also having bottles is a good way of keeping a check on how many you have supped 😁

Get a 4l oxebar for the fridge, just transfer over as and when you need to.

“Keeping a check” silly boy
