Hi guys, i need a little help reguarding the subject of gassing keggs as im sure the subject is very simply and easy but im very very confused, so let me try and explain.

Im getting a corny kegg in time for when my brew is ready to be kegged as it will save time in the long run as ive been advised these are very very good and better generaly than the plastic keggs.

However my confussion comes when its time to kegg, im going to prime the kegg with the required amount of sugar once this is done and its filled with the brew do i then leave it totaly and hope it maintains the required amount of pressure or should i hook it up to the co2 and maintain the pressure on the basis of the 1 to 1 ratio that has been mentioned on some posts reguarding psi and temp.

If this is the case does it then need to be like this the whole time its conditioning and when its moved to a colder temp should the psi be adjusted accordinly?
along with when its ready should the psi be dropped to a serving psi if there is such a thing.

I would really appricate some help on this subject as i cant seem to get to grips with it!! Thanks in advance. :P

I don't bother priming my kegs. I let the beer drop bright before transferring to the corny (or transfer it and add finings if I'm in a rush). Then carbonate the beer with the CO2 as you mention.

I wouldn't get too worked up about temperature and pressure ratios to start with. I like my beer quite fizzy so I gas the keg at 20psi to start . This will drop as the beer absorbs the co2 and I just top up at around 16psi until it doesn't drop anymore. My kegs are all stored in the garage so will be at whatever temperature it is in there.

Sometimes it comes out a bit frothy but never unmanageable. I prefer this to flat beer. Just give it a go and you'll soon work out how you like your own.

Thanks i shall give it a go, so the key is just to keep it topped up at the required psi of your choice, execllent! guess its a case of experimenting until i find what i like as you say,.
