Corny keg levels

I'm currently building a mini bar with two cornies in a cooled box with a couple of beer taps on top.

I've spent a tenner on the electronics from some bathroom scales and a couple of little LCD screens. I'll write some code so each beer tap has a display showing what beer is on and how many pints are left.

I like the sound of this. Would be interested to see what’s required. Would be happy for just a seven segment led display of litres, I can cope with a chalkboard for the details for now.

I've said this before ... get a cheap <£5 old fashioned bathroom scales (NOT electronic).
Weigh one of your empty kegs.
I'm sure you can work out the rest.

Unfortunately wouldn’t work for me as I try to avoid lugging full kegs in and out of the converted chest freezer and disturbing the contents.

I was planning on a blackboard for the beer type. But the cheapest LCD allowed space for words as well as numbers...

I'll put the photos and info up on my thread about the build when I get round to doing it. Maybe in a couple of weeks or so.

It'll be using a raspberry pi or Arduino. I've got a couple kicking around. I think the basic option would be less than a tenner. But I'm going to use one with WiFi so I can update it without using any cables.

It sounds complicated but it's not really. If I get it working well I'll do a step by step instructions for you

Amazing thank you. I've got a raspberry pi I use for my tilt so I've set one up before with code from the web.

Yes but I don't want to open the kegerator door to check, was looking for a neater option and something to keep me busy!

Yep, I looked into it but the flow meters they recommend aren’t easy to get hold of and a bit pricey. Wasn’t sure how much the Pi bits would be either. Nice looking UI though!

That would be awesome. If it has a VGA/DVI-I interface I have an old TFT looking sad and lonely in the corner of the office!

It‘s been a long time since I programmed PIC’s or machine code, but it would be interesting to see how complicated it is.

Probably totally unsuitable but the last time I was in Lidl they some garden hose flow meters that looked like they could come in useful. Solid plastic with quicklock hose fittings and I'd be surprised if the body wasn't food grade but no idea on the internals, accuracy, etc.

Ha. You're over qualified. You can run Windows on a raspberry pi!

It presents as a web site so you could either put the Pi into browser kiosk mode or browse to the web page on your tablet or phone.
I've set mine up to just indicate what's on tap along with some detail about each brew.
