I've just ordered cornie number 2 from Norm and have a Bathams best bitter clone brewing away. My question is what PSI should i try to start with on my brew i seem to remember reading about 12 psi.
Also i have a chest freezer to convert nearer the summer when ive eat all the food out of it, what are the temp controllers called? The type with a probe and work by turning on and of the freezer to maintain temp no wiring needed and any ideas where I could get one from in the UK?

Thanks in advance :thumb:

I'd do it at about 20PSI for a week, but I do like some fizz.

The temp controllers are called PID. You can get a fully wired one on fleabay for about £75 delivered

or you could do it yourself from one of these

(takes about 3 weeks delivery from Hong Kong) plus a couple of plug sockets and an enclosure. I spent a very pleasant Saturday afternoon wiring up one of these following this guide

All in cost about half the fully wired version, and it gave me an understanding of how it works. And believe me, if I can wire it up, anybody can, I am DIY challenged, but keen to learn

Don't go with a PID as you can't control a Freezer in PID mode.

Either an ATC800 or a TC-10 from http://www.forttex.com . . .Personal Preference is for the TC-10 it's smaller, and has finer control.

I've also bought one of These Chinese Jobbies (well Sort off another seller) to have a play with. They appear to give full heating and cooling as the TC-10 . . . what they don't do is the Heating OR Cooling, if you only want one or the other . . . although If you put it all in a box with two switched sockets you can turn one of them off as required.

If you buy the complete item there is no wiring . . .if you buy the bare unit you have to be able to wire it up . . . it's a tad more difficult than a plug . . . you do need to engage your brain :D

ah thats not looking good for me then... I've seen one that is a temperature probe and a plug and it basically turns the freezer of when reaches the right temp and on again when getting warm.
