alright troops, filled my first 2 cornies tnite, gave them a blast of co2 at 40 psi to seal the lids and let the pressure valve off a few times, im sticking them out in the shed to keep them cool just now, ive linked them both up to the same gas cylinder, turned the gas down to about 12 or 13 psi but cant hear anything even though the gas bottle top has been turned fully on, I expect that is because it has already been pressurised with the blast at 40psi?.I did hear the gas going in when i blasted it at 40 though so just wanting to make sure!
i dont seem to have any apparent gas leaks yet touch wood

Try venting it a bit to see if any gas comes out, if so its fine.

i went out to the shed where it is alot colder abt an hour aftr putting the kegs out, the gas reg seems to have gone down slightly, does that indicate a leak or does the beer absorb more co2 as it gets colder and thats why its went down?

Think so, I'm on my first 2 corneys too and I have!
The gas pressure wouldn't be affected by how much gas has been absorbed into the beer if the cylinders on, temperature is quite likely to affect it though. I checked mine for leaks by pumping it up to 30 psi then turning the gas off and leaving it for 20 mins or so, it still said 30 psi so I was happy.

do you use any keg lube or vaseline at all? ive seen people using it on youtube , ive not got any but might try getting some. i'll probably go out to the shed tomorrow and the gas will have emptied!

I have just had a problem with the gas post leaking very slowly. Used some soapy water over the post to see if there was a leak, and yes there was....very slow one. But if i removed the gas disconnect the keg would leak overnight.

So may be best to check the posts for a leak. I keep the keg gassed at 5psi just now so the post wont leak.

Need to use some grease next time round and check these first before putting the beer in. :)
