I am new to Cornelius Kegs do I need to shorten dip tube, bend it or add some kind of filter to stop sediment being drawn into the dip tube then my beer??

No. Just store them properly and it'll be fine.

The first 100ml or so will have stuff in it but you can dump that small amount.

How much sediment will depend on how clear your beer is before kegging and how much yest is transferred when kegging. I can get minimal but only by transferring to another FV and fining then kegging, you can add finings to the keg but you will still get a few pints of junk before getting a clear pint.

It may not matter as much if you are not bothered about how clear your beer is, some people shorted the dip tube.

Shorten the dip tube and you'll regret it. Will increase dead space and can't easily be reversed.

Just leave to clear/cool and dump the first wee bit. Simple.

never tried it, but have heard some managed extend the spear with some plastic hose creating a small u-tube effect
