I have said in the past i liked Jeremy unfortunately many in the party didn't do you think he should be reinstated would it do Kier the favours suggested?

“Keir, when he was elected leader, said he would unite the party and that’s why he received such overwhelming support when he was elected leader.
“One step in demonstrating his uniting the party is to give Jeremy back the whip.
“I think it would be a really helpful act if Keir did that now.”

Sir Keir Starmer should reinstate Jeremy Corbyn as a parliamentary Labour MP, former shadow chancellor John McDonnell has said.

Former Labour leader Mr Corbyn had the party whip withdrawn in October following his response to an Equality and Human Rights Commission report into anti-Semitism in the party.

But Mr McDonnell said allowing him back into the Parliamentary Labour Party would demonstrate Labour leader Sir Keir’s desire to “unite” the party.
Asked on Sky News’ Trevor Phillips On Sunday programme if it was time for Mr Corbyn to be readmitted, Mr McDonnell said: “Yes, it is.

“Keir, when he was elected leader, said he would unite the party and that’s why he received such overwhelming support when he was elected leader.

“One step in demonstrating his uniting the party is to give Jeremy back the whip.

“I think it would be a really helpful act if Keir did that now.”

Islington North MP Mr Corbyn was suspended from Labour for claiming the scale of anti-Semitism in the party was “dramatically overstated for political reasons”, less than an hour after the Equality and Human Rights Commission published a report on anti-Semitism in the party.

Mr Corbyn issued a “public statement of clarification” in November, which he says was agreed with the party, saying concerns about anti-Semitism were “neither ‘exaggerated’ nor ‘overstated’”.

After a meeting of the disputes panel of Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC) the same day, Mr Corbyn was issued with a formal warning and his suspension was lifted.

But, the following day, Mr Corbyn was told he could not sit as a Labour MP, with Sir Keir saying his predecessor had “undermined” work to restore trust and confidence in the party’s ability to tackle anti-Semitism.

Having the whip withdrawn is considered a serious punishment by a party.

While the MP can keep their seat in the House of Commons, they are classed as an independent.

Not sure this would be conveying the right message with regard to driving out anti-Semitism within the party. Whilst he may not be anti-Semitic with regard to his own views his past links with Hamas and Hezbollah are never going to do him any favours.

Unfortunately the Labour party needs a somewhat radical revamp if they ever want to become as tangible opposition party again though I can also see arguments for not heading back to the "Tory Lite" days of Blair and Co. Must be a difficult balance between having a political party that is actually electable but not straying to far from your core values and beliefs.

He had simply too much baggage going back years and years,In fact he might as well had a target printed on his forehead so his detractors in the mainly tory press could take better aim.

Unfortunately his performance at PMQs against several prime ministers was also a disappointment.

Despite his popularity with the grassroots of the party,I really think at the end of the day he was just not PM material.
Perhaps it was just his advancing years,???? Even at the much younger age of 64 I find i cant take the stress like I once could.

Throwing Corbyn out of the party will only cause more ill-feeling amongst supporters. Whereas the GBP as a whole have largely forgotten about him already, I suspect.

Why?

He was a disaster!!!

Not that they will see the inside of No10 except as visitors for a very very long time and possibly never...

As a party they represent their activists who are too often university educated liberal ultra wokeys.

In many ways I would like to see Labour and Tories both split into 2 parties with a Corbyn/momentum led/style very left party and a more centre left version and a truly conservative tory party led by maybe Mogg (I don't really know much about what he would do) or maybe even some one a bit like but not exactly Farage and again a more centre right version. But I can also see a 4 party system with 1st past the post and possible weird coalitions or non majority governments could make it all even worse.
