Does anyone know somewhere cheap to get copper from? Plumbase used to be pretty good, but it's jumped up in price recently. I've not been able to find 10m of 10mm copper for much less than £30... seems quite excessive

I got mine from a stove shop. It's the stuff you connect your oil tank to your boiler. 10mm copper, coated in plastic that is easy to remove. Any length you want, I got 10m for £20. That's a tener off anyway.

Is that on a coil?

When you say a stove shop, are there any big shops that have a website? I'm not quite sure what you mean by stove shop.

City pplumbing its about £16. Failing that you not have any mate that are plumbers? Very rare I pay anything for pipe or fittings.

It was coiled up in the corner of his shop, and he measured out some generous meters of the stuff with his stride!

It was literally just a shop where I'd been getting some flues for my pot belly stove. They sell baths and sinks etc, and wood burning stoves. I guess they had the copper for some of the oil fired stoves/Agas. If you have OFCH get in touch with your local boiler service man, maybe he'll have a roll in his van. I'm not sure if it's the same stuff for gas or not, so.

Like DanB says, bribe a mate. (edit: and I can't beat his £16).

Damn... I don't have a plumber mate or gas at home!

There's a city plumbing near my inlaws though! Can anyone just walk in or is it trade only?
