Just started my first home brew making stout, I have put instead of normal sugar, 500g dark spray malt, 250g soft brown sugar and 1 Tin treacle, do you think this will turn out ok?... I put two kettles of hot water in fermenting bin then added the dark spray malt and mixed well, then brown sugar and mixed then treacle and mixed for a while then I added the stout tin mixed it well in and filled up to 23 gallons, it has been three days now and is fermenting very well..

Hi.

I have recently bottled my Coopers Stout, only my 2nd brew, and I used liquorice rather than treacle but I think this is a proven kit and mine tastes lovely.

Yours should be too :drink:

Not a liquorice fan to be honest, I wonder would maple syrup work in stout, check out YouTube and look for craigtube is is really good, I might try golden syrup in a real ale, also try honey in coopers lager, craigtube says it's good
