Hi guys, now that my 1st brew , a coopers lager worked out well, i thought it was time to get another on the go. im going to do the coopers stout. ( white tin, black lid )
Ive got the brew enhancer 2 and was told to also put 500g of coopers light dry malt extract in to help with body and head. Is that ok to do seeing its light dry malt? everywhere else seems to use dark. Cheers, any help appreciated

Jake I bottled a Coopers Stout last Sunday, be prepared for it to go off like a rocket in the FV. Mine nearly took the lid off within 24 hrs

cheers for the replies. got it brewed :) the thing that was confusing me also was that i was told to use the 500g light dry malt along with the full 1kg of brew enhancer. I decided not to, and used 500g light dry malt and 500g of the brew enhancer instead of the ikg. hope ive did the right thing? still new to this game so a bit clueless lol, but I didnt want to make rocket fuel, just a nice sessionable beer. and i assume the extra sugar would have pushed the abv up a fair bit. its already getting a good fermentation going after less than 24 hours. had heard it was a vigourous one. Hopefully i havent ruined it with what ive done. was hard to find one even on youtube that people had did just as a standard kit without treacle and coffee and chocolate extras etc.

24 hours, and had a quick peak and your right, its off like a rocket, lol. Im glad the FV has the Krausen collar that gives a bit of extra space. :drink::drink:

My next brew is one of these. Will be bottling my current one this weekend then putting on the Coopers Stout. But I need to get malt extract first. I cant use dextrose or brew enhancer do to an allergy to sweet corn that its made from so will have to do either all malt extract or a mix of malt extract and sugar. Any recommendations out of these two options?

When I make this I usually add dry malt plus sugar. (500g plus 1Kg) But sometimes throw in another can (or two) (from other kits, not another stout!).

When I did my first brew at xmas, the coopers lager, i bottled after 8 days. im now on day 10 with the stout in the fv and the gravity readings have been the same, 1010, for 3 days. giving me 4% abv which im happy with. However I was going to leave this brew for at least 2 weeks in the FV, as a lot seem to recommend this. Is this ok to leave even though Ive had 3 consecutive stable readings. Ive tasted each day also and i can taste a difference for the better each time. Just dont want to ruin it by not bottling at this stage, if im meant to be. Sorry for the noob questions !!
