Just tasted my Coopers Real Ale.
Started 27/3/11, bottled 11/4/11.
Well pleased, Not as "bittery" as I thought it would be, just a dry clean taste ,good head ,with a nice hoppy after taste.
I put it all in bud type 330 ml bottles which although a pain to clean that amount , the yeast sediment is minimal and you get to drink most of the beer .(I also found the yeast cake set into a very compact gell like paste ,so not much was pulled up).
Its also handy to offer to friends and neighbours who are doubtful about the merits of home brew ,a big pint of foamy seems to daunt them , they seem more willing to accept it in a familiar form (bud bottle) -heathens.
All in all I am impressed with Coopers so far and will work through the range.
I thought ALL properly made home brew was "real ale" though, why do they make the distinction between this and their other kits?
Happy Spud.
