Warning: "newbie first post i made a daft mistake" alert ;) I made the this a few weeks ago, my first attempt at a lager. 2 weeks in the fermenting bin then i put it into PET bottles with one and a half coopers carbonation drops in each. I opened a bottle last weekend (after 2 weeks in the bottle) and it was very flat and sweet-ish. Now, after doing a bit of research (and joining this forum :) ) i think that where i put them, behind the settee, was not warm enough for secondary fermentation? so ive moved them to where i usually ferment (behind the TV cabinet), which is around 20c most of the time. Is it too late to save it? or will this resurrect it, and if so, how long should i leave them there?

yeah it should liven up fine :thumb: give them a week and then 3 in the cold. after the first week it should have pressure, if so, you're okay! :thumb:

Yeah you should be fine. I had some similar issues over the winter, find somewhere nice and warm for them for a week. Wrap in a duvet/blanket even :thumb:

Cheers guys :thumb: Tommorow it will be a week since i moved them and i can feel some pressure in the bottles, some bits floating around in there too. So tomorrow i will put them somewhere cool then. Thanks :)

That scares me somewhat then.

I've realised mine might be failing because I left them in my kitchen (which is around 14-16c most of the time).

Hence they're flat as a fart.

Is there anything can be done? Other than a Sodastream.

Try putting them in the warm again for a week, if you have somewhere nice and warm. Im lucky, ive an airing cupboard. :thumb:

Cheers Bottler. I'll give it a go and find somewhere warm.

My airing cupboard is out as we keep towels in there.
So do we but after sweet talking wife, i made use of the top shelf. I told the wife the top shelf was too awkward for her to reach anyway :D

OK, so I spied that we have a considerable area behind the tank.

I'm not sure she's that happy about it, but I've double bagged them (in case one explodes).
She looked at me as if to say "That better not happen!"

I managed to fit 16 of them in.

I'll try one again next week.

Good on ya mate. We have to break these women in gradually, and soon you'll have enough room for 40 bottles. Dont worry about explodeing bottles unless you've done something extremely wrong. :thumb:

Well i tried a bottle today (they have been in a warmer place for a week now) and yes, much improved, there is much more gas in there now although i don't think it's quite there yet so i'm going to leave them warm just a little while longer, 2 or 3 more days before they move to a cold spot. Thanks for the advice :)
