Cooper's Larger premium selection

I have bought this kit and it says that it should be used with 1. 5 Kg of coopers light malt extract. I have bag (500 gr) of Spry malt light. I was wandering if I could uses this plus 1 kg of sugar instead of what coopers recommends. The chap at my local home brew shop thinks so but I wanted a second opinion.

You could, but it would lack body. Although I'm not sure how much body lager is supposed to have. Is the sugar sucrose (household sugar) or dextrose (brewing sugar)?
