Ok people I am soooooooooooooo tempted to do a Coopers Dark Ale.

Question is do I just go for the kit plus sugar or do I go for something else?

I really hope you can give me some inspiration as I am off to the shop tomorrow

Thanks a lot fellow brewers
:drunk:

Coopers Dark Ale was the very first beer I ever made, I used beer enhancer instead of sugar and it turned out lovely.

Thanks for reply.

I bought the dark ale kit and some Dark Spray Malt and some Brewing sugar along with an Coopers Brewmaster Irish Stout, was considering doing the stout with 700g Dark eXTRACT AND 300g sugar.

That will leave 700g Sugar and 300g Dark extract for my Dark Ale, hopefully this will be a good idea.

That sounds like a pretty good plan to me :thumb:

Although I only brewed 5 kits before I crossed over to AG, two of those were Cooper's Dark made with 500g sugar + 500g spraymalt and I was well pleased with them.

OOOh!

your a tease lmao!

you cant say I have a good idea like that and only reply with one sentence.

lol

Also do you think those ratios look good?

The guy in the home brwe shop was really great, which is good cos last time iwent there the guy serving was ****

Oh FFS, most of the time I probably use more words that might be necessary, because I try to give an answer and then explain the principles or my reasoning behind that answer.

Try to keep it brief and I get bollocked :?

Your ratios sound good to me, go for it :thumb:

I still appreciate your answer even though I got u to bite :D

ur all legends and omg isnt brewing like major addictive

MOLEY!!! u are a legend!

Just tried a bottle of this tonight (even though it's a few days early).

Remember I added a tin of treacle to the proceedings?? Well it's a really good beer...lovely and sweet and smooth with a fabulous caramelly aftertaste...I reckon if I left it for another few weeks it would be fantastic but it's pretty darn good now.....and I'm normally a "lager only" drinker so I'd go for it if I were you....nothing ventured.....

Dermy,

I cant wait to try this myself. Appreciate u sharing ur experience.

I've done similar with great success, but try changing half the sugar to a dark muscovado as well and brew it a little short and it's a stronger, richer, chewier brew... :drink:

Excellent Idea!!

Dark Muscavado already sounds like its going to add some deeper flavour mmmmmmm.

I am actually going to take that hint and will let you know when brewing.
