Hello everyone
I’ve got a pintmaster Czech pilsner in my shed 12 degrees and fermenting away quite happily

However my coopers candian seems to be struggling

I’ve added a warm mix of Nottingham yeast yesterday but still nothing from the airlock although on opening the lid everything smells and looks great

Am I wittling over nothing ? Please tell me it’s working but just slowly !!!

Thanks everyone

It's the 12 degrees mate, the coopers yeast is not a lager yeast in that kit. Will need at least 15 degrees but best about 18-20.

Might be working slowly but more likely dormant because the wort is cold

Is it in your shed at 12C along with the pilsner?

If yes, then that's the reason: Coopers Canadian comes with an ale yeast that needs a minimum of 18C. It's too cold for it so it's not fermenting.

Yes mate next to the pilsner
That’s got saflager thrown in for good measure

Why would you put ale yeast in a drink that’s clearly lager
Penny pinching ?

Unlikely. My guess is it's because many homebrewers don't have the facilities to properly brew lager beer at lager yeast temperatures, but will find it a lot easier to brew at about 18*C+ which is why most (but not all) lager kits come with an ale yeast.
