Just pitched the yeast into this. Short brewed to 21 litres with 1kg brewing sugar and 500g light spraymalt.

I have a sg of 1050 so if it goes down to 1012 like like my last coopers Australian it gives me a nice 5% lager for the summer.

Mine used to stick at 1012 but a tspn of yeast nutrient gets me down to 1006-1008.
Brewed this twice, once with all brewing sugar and once with 1/2 brewing sugar and 1/2 spray malt.
Both were nice infact I'm enjoying one now out of the Cornie.

Hi, the OG seems a bit low for a kilo of spraymalt and a kilo of sugar, I would have expected an OG reading in the 1050's. What volume did you dilute it to? Spraymalt is a bugger to dissolve tho :-) I just did a wilko one can stout with half a kilo of medium spray malt and a kilo of BS made into dark syrup made to 21L and got an OG of 1052.
Regards
Griff

Yes mick, the og is a bit low for the stuff you put in. Have you tested your hydrometer lately mate. :thumb:

That should turn out to be around 6% ABV ish :-) With a kilo of BS I would expect it to finish on the dry side :-) 6% + depending on the final volume.

As long as it tastes good.... who cares. enjoy :-)

iv just been back and looked at my tread on my lager...
and i did feck up twice.... .

1 i only added 500g of light spray malt ...
2 i also added to much water ...
it was over 5 galons by about 2 pints ...

it was only after scottm seen this...
he advised me to add the 1kg of brewing sugar...

so thats why it had a low reading .. :thumb: .

i remember fecking up...
but i didnt think it was the lager...

Do you put the nutrient in now or wait to see if it sticks first?
Chuck it straight in it when you brew.
KC where do you get the nutrient ?
Wilko sell it, my LHBS sells it and I'm reasonably sure you will be able to get it online if you don't have either locally.
I'm sure I read somewhere people have just used tomato purée.

Just found it in my lhbs on line, it was under the wine additives catigory, but dare say its the same. :thumb:

It's a bit late now it's already going, and I haven't got any nutrient either. Will it be worth me putting some in on Tuesday after a visit to my LHBS or will it be too late?
