hi guys, so ive had my coopers austrailian lager brewing for 7 days og was 1040 and now the fg has been 1020 for the past 2 days average temp 20-21

i have put it closer to radiator and given it a slight stir

any ideas, if it remains at this fg would it b okay to bottle ?

thanks

Assuming the SG was 1042, that would mean if you bottled now it would be 2.9%. The last time I did one it went down to 1000 = 5.7%.
I would wait a while. Give it a really good stir :thumb:

7 days is kind of a short time to be poking around in a lager. My ales get a minimum of 21 days in the fermenter before I start paying much attention to them. Lagers take usually twice as long due to the lowered fermentation temp. Lagers also require a lot more viable yeast than ales; did you make a big starter?

Thats right , it does , but if you use it at a lower temp it throws a frothy head at first then goes deep and slow . But not in front of a a rad at 21* C ! Have a look at BigYins sticky for a stuck/stopped ferment for some overview and ideas . And no , dont bottle it yet . The instructions say 1006 .

I have the same kit in secondary FV under airlock , fining , at the moment . I racked it off the trub at 1012 (16*C) , from an OG of 1042 @ 21*C .....after 14 days , my notes say .

Where was the hydrometer when you tested it ? I know this sounds silly and even patronising , but was there room for the hydro to fully sink and for you to see it clearly ? What is the temp of the wort itself ? Is there a draught ? Can you wrap the FV in a blanket or similar ? Apply some more controllable heat if needed ?

Most of all , stay calm , read the sticky , and keep asking questions whenever you are unsure . :thumb:
