Ok, so I carefully got the Mangrove Jacks kit off and running but I am a little worried about the FV temp. I only have one of those fishtank style stick-on temp strips, but is has not dropped below 22 and is showing 24 this morning. The room in question does not have the rad turned on and the main house thermostat says 20 degress.
So the question is: I was under the impression the ideal fermenting temp should be 18 - 22, will 24 be too "warm" or are these stick on temp strips not that accurate? Do I needs to initiate some cooling to bring it down?
(FV airstop is bubbling away every minute or two at the moment)
Thanks

The fermentation will generate it's own heat so a degree or so higher is normal.
If you really wanted to cool it you could put a wet towel round it but I wouldn't bother.

Once a brew starts to ferment it generates heat and will rise a couple of degree's, try a cold damp wet towel wrapped round the fermenter, the experts will be along shortly, personally i would not be to bothered about 24c as long as it stays at that

Well it has now sat at 22 degrees all day, I shouldn't have worried, it is bubbling like a Yellowstone geyser..... though the emissions are much more pleasant on the nose! So all good....

Yeast used is M44 US West Coast
I brewed with that at 35c as part of an experiment and it tasted more like an English fruity yeast at that temperature and I quite liked it. You'll be grand at 24c, it just might be a tiny bit more estery.

it just might be a tiny bit more estery.
Now there's a scary thought...
