Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd draw your attention to some Welch's juice that I bought today (10 cartons) :x It is 'Grape & Peach' batch number 2248. It was the only carton with that batch number and the rest appeared to be ok.

Since I had poured most of them into my fermentation vessel before this one it has contaminated the rest. I have given it a good dose of Campden tablets so I think that should neutralise it, and I will leave it a couple of days before adding any yeast. Does that sound a good idea?

Hi, personally i would have binned it as i believe that a brew or ferment is only as good as the initial ingredients.
you can make a good drink from good ingredients, you can make a bad drink from good ingredients but i don't believe you can make a good drink from bad ingredients-just my take on it,hope it turns out ok   ken.

Well I figured if it works for wild yeast on fruits it should do the same for mould. I think

and anyone who has ever drunk 'Gibbs' in Dorset will know that not everything that tastes like **** will necessarily poison you :nono:

Hi Triker,is that the famous Gibbs & Spew(mew) from my home city of Salisbury by any chance. They made ***** beers most of the time but shut down some time ago  thankfully. ken.

Hi Ken.

Could be. I had a pint of it in Weymouth in around 1974. I remember the slogan on the pumps like it was yesterday and it has been a source of amusement ever since. It read "Give us Gibbs". The worst pint of beer I have ever had in over forty years.

Happy days
