hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has ever experienced condensation droplets forming on the inside of a bottle? (yeast activity?) :wha:

i'm currently 7 days into (my first) carbonation and havent seen any bubbles from the IPA yet! just condensation. The pet bottles do seem a tad firmer though, so something must be happening?

storage ambient temperature is 18.5C, fermented fine @20C, hydrometer readings constant prior to bottling,

any help much appreciated

hi mb

Condensation usually occurs when you have swings in temperature - have they been in direct sunlight (not that we have seen much of that up here lately)? :wha:

I wouldn't be too concerned - if the bottles are getting firmer and the beer looks like it has cleared and a small layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle then things are going to plan. I usually give me beers a fortnight in the house before moving out to the garage for the cold conditioning. :thumb:

I get them all the time. My theory is that it is condensation forming from water vapour hitting the top of the bottle at a cooler temperature.
I don't know if it is any cause for concern.

thanks for the help, feel a bit more at ease now :thumb: , bottles have been kept under stairs with c.h on at night, but temp may have dropped? bottles are swelling, brew clearing and yeast forming, happy days :D

It might help if you move them to a cooler place now

will 8 days carbonating be ok to then stick em in the shed?

nice choice of avatar btw

10 - 14 days is my normal rule of thumb, then get them somewhere cool.

left for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks in the shed, first taste very impressed, so dont think the condensation mattered atall really :D

thanks for everyone's advice and tips :thumb:

dont think that my local offie will be getting much trade from myself now

cheers
