hello members on thbuk. it is my pleasure to post that I have now managed to legally sell my ale to a wide audience.
about a year ago after making a couple of AG brews I was offered a few places at beer festivals by encouraging land lords, I missed all these dead lines but kept brewing (about 300L a week) out of my own wages and gave away pretty much all of i brewed or down the drain with disasters until 3 months ago when I finally cracked it and got registered and had it on in the pub where i am a chef, at the same time i was told about the tower of london looking for their own real ale and was looking for entries to be the selected brewer for the yeoman's of the tower of london, I submitted a box of ale bottled with a yeoman label that i threw together and it passed 3 comities including a tasting from princess Ann I was told. it was eventually chosen as the finest ale (but shepherds almost got it).
so now i have been offered the investment towards a realistic sized brewery and about to go for it big.
it wouldn't of happened without this site I owe all knowledge to you all. :

Well that is amazing. As you may have read, Grumpy Businessman that I am, I would normally try and put people off. However what you have done is committed yourself into developing a product and perhaps a brand which you have then marketed. Admittedly I would say that you had an element of luck in finding a competition to brew beer for such a place but then you only won by producing obviously the best beer.

You have entered a new business venture exactly the right way, developing you product on probably a minimal budget (alot less than what you would have spent if you had had to invest in a commercial brewery before you got to grips with the beer), and marketing it with results.

Now the hard work starts and all the other skills (accounts, VAT, etc) will have to be mastered. One piece of advice, get a good accountant to begin with and set up a limited liability company, the best thing I ever did and probably the most tax efficient way to run a business. I have seen to many people set up a business without a decent accountants help and end up with problems and a big tax bill at the end of the year.

thanx guys! just got back from a weekend of living in a TP in cardigan celebrating my girlfriends 23 birthday dolphin spotting and ale drinking, loads of tribute! will be goin back for my 26th in aug great part of the world, feels like abroad most of time.
Im lucky my boss is going to do all the paper work side of things so i dont have to worry about the boring side of the job so i can concentrate on brewing. he is also a very good salesman and has got countless landlords waiting for barrels, the market we are tapping into is ''especially brewed for you'' e.g. The Ship Inn would have a SHIP INN ALE with their own clip.
me personally am working on a biker/rock branding and its down that line i want to express my more exiting recipes, also the ginger alcopop based on the forum recipe i think. virgilatouir from the form came over to show me how to make it and sell him a cool box mash tun he has unfortunately had to move back to the states i believe so that why hes vanished from the forum.
any way, will keep updates of the new brewery being fitted and all that jazz.

Best thing you will ever do set up your own business. You seem to have someone who will help with all the 'Business' side of things which will help, but don't forget to be involved in that side and learn that as well. The 'Business' side of any business is probably the most important aspect. No Customers no sales, no sales no cash flow, no cash flow no business.
