very slim chance anyone would have used the very same one but Comark 9003 thermometer. are these any good? Im looking at one online its second hand from british aerospace £15

As long as it works, it is as good as its calibration.
Thermocouples and their meters are not inherently accurate and the combination needs to be calibrated as a pair if you want to trust them for mash temperature accuracy.
This gives some ideas:

You will see that a K-type sensor, on its own (i.e. without adding any inaccuracies of the meter) can vary by +/- 1.5C at 66C.

You can do a lot better with a meter designed for catering/food use.

This should be +/- 0.3C:

(You would need to check it against a known good one though!)

Otherwise look out for another Hanna on eBay, here are some new details and prices:

Better still:

I picked up an earlier version of one of these for about £28 on eBay:

There have also been some good suggestions on the forum recently.
Anything you get should be checked, at the very least at 0C and 100C, before trusting them. If you have a chance also cross check against a know good one at a temperature closer to 66C - you might be very surprised to find out how inaccurate many thermometers are! It would be very easy to be at 69C or 63C instead of 66C, makes a lot of difference to the fermentability
Good luck!
