Hello fellow alcohol intakers! While I've been a member of this forum for a while I've not really delved in the pit of knowledge that is offered by other member's, until recently when I needed help with a pressure problem and the Landlord, @Hazelwood Brewery pointed me in the right direction even offering to fix the problem himself (Landlord! I will get back to you soon), sorry but the reason for my chatting bubbles is just to say I'm still a bit green around the gills with some of the solutions mentioned as with one mentioned on this subject! So I want to ask what is "the cardboard trick?" Happy brewing everyone

Sometimes the seal on a CO2 bulb, used to pressurise a pressure barrel, doesn’t get pierced properly when you screw it onto the S30 valve. This is because the bulb has fractionally different measurements or the seal is not on the top of the bulb - being recessed slightly.

The “trick” is to put a small piece of card behind the bulb when fitted in the cartridge to push it forward a little. Now when you screw it down the bulb is properly pierced.
 
Wish people who lose faith in PBs would throw them out in my direction. I have 5 on constant rotation, and they rarely give me trouble. The rules are, replace the safety, and input seal on a regular basis, fit a Schrader valve in the cap, so you can pressure test with air before putting your beer in, and this valve can be used to monitor brew pressure, with a digital tyre gauge, change the cap seal to a flat section ballihoo seal, and don't over tighten. That's about it. Don't forget throw em to me, I'll take as many that come my way. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
