Just moved to Tiptree and I’m now in the same boat as you. I have a cylinder but getting a company to refill it is unlikely. Looks like I’ll need to bite the bullet and pay a deposit on a new one.

Who did you go with in the end and what price?

Adams seem pricey to me, their website isn't very easy to understand and I can't be arsed to drive to Thurrock from Colchester. There's a place called CellAir who will sell to public, you can go a pick up from Stowmarket, which is easier to get to imo, is for me at least. Think it's £55 in first bottle then £25 to swap out. Is what I'm planning on doing at some point. I'll carry on bottling for now.

I use Thameside Fire Protection, they fill CO2 extinguishers but were ok to fill a couple of my own cylinders, they also sold me a refurbed 6.5kg bottle with the dip tuned removed and a valve fitted. They are near festival leisure park in Basildon so slightly closer than Rayleigh. 6,5kgs is 20, my 3kg was 10 and 1.5kg 5 to fill.

Do all of these suppliers supply food grade CO2 or do people buy it regardless?

Taking my cylinder there after work on Monday. They were happy to fill it so fingers crossed. £15 plus vat. It’s a bit of a drive but saves me taking out another deposit on a new cylinder!

Thameside Fire Protection is definitely the way to go. For my 6kg cylinder it was £18. The C02 was from a BOC cylinder so chances are it’s food grade. My own cylinder had a tamper proof non return valve which was swapped out. Let’s just say the guy there was very helpful I will be returning in a few weeks to buy a cylinder from them. If anyone wants any more info re prices send me a PM.
