Hi, I have had a couple of leaks on my CO2 equipment used for dispensing and forced carbonation.
I have a CO2 bottle connected to my main regulator. From the regulator I have a 1/4" thread to a 3/8" John Guest fitting going to another where it enters a 2 way manifold. This manifold has one 3/8" fitting going to a chest freezer and a 5/16" connector not used (I need it to move from my fermenter to the kegs on occasion).
The chest freezer connection goes to a 4 way manifold where I have a 3/8" entry and 4, 5/16" duotight connectors. I usually have 3 of these connected to kegs for forced carbonation or dispensing.
Are the John Guest and duotight connectors really leak tight? I usually don't force carbonate over 20 psi but on 2 occasions I have had my bottle nearly empty overnight.
The manifolds are left hanging on the pipes. I find the pipes too stiff to get the manifold to fix in a reasonable position without putting alot of stress on the connection.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

To find where in the system the leak is you can use the high pressure gauge of your main regulator:

Then use soapy water, although you can get a food safe leak detector spray from Buffalo that will help find even tiny leaks.

Some places my equipment had leaked from:

1. Regulator connection. Tighten.
2. Push fittings. These are sealed with an o-ring and can leak when the tube is scratched, not inserted deep enough, or o ring is twisted or pinched. Moisten pipe and o-rings.
3. Keg fittings. Gas/liquid posts. These work their way loose. Tighten. Replace o-rings and use PTFE on threads.
4. Pressure release valves. Debris between valve seal and seat. Remove and clean with abrasive material, e.g. cloth.

Basically, take everything apart, refit and tighten correctly.
