Hi i am thinking of getting a Co2 cylinder what size would you go for 3Kg or a 6Kg thanks for any help

Crikey, I wish I could get the 3kg bottles. Lumping the 6kg ones about is a right pain.

Which should answer your question! Would 3kg be more convenient? Can you easily get 3kg (they are not very common)? Do you mind paying the extra for 3kg and don't mind the extra trips to fetch gas (obviously twice as many trips as for 6kg cylinders)? The gas is identical, same pressures, same cylinder attachments (unless they have an unusual source). Its up to you what you have.

I don't think this is the "normal" 6kg cylinder, but my supplier provided me with a dumpy one which fits under the counter next to my fridge. 660mm high, 180mm diameter. If you can find one they're probably a bit easier to deal with than the taller ones.

PP is that black one pure CO2, or is it 'cellar gas' (mix of CO2 and Nitrogen) ?

Pure CO2. I think I'd phoned them up asking for a 3kg because I needed the shorter height when the guy suggested this one as a better alternative.

Edit: Back when I was working in pubs the CO2 was always black, mixed gas was grey. Presumably that's still a thing 25 years later (and working that out made me feel really old)

6kg has been great for me. Must be coming up for a year since I bought it and thus far not needed a refill (it will run out now I've said that!)

Hi many thanks for all your replys, i think i will go for the 6 and may be get a 3 for back up
Thanks

For me, 3kg for the keezer as fits nicely. 6kg for back up; bottling with beer gun; force carbing etc.
