I have been brewing beer for over 30 years using a hambelton bard beer sphere. Since I have had king kegs, I have never had a successful pint. I argued with a home brew shop who told me JUST PUT IT IN SEAL IT AND LEAVE IT. I put sugar in to prime it and after sealing it put a little gas in using S30. Tested it out every 20 mins just to see if there was pressure. After an hour I left it.

4 weeks later tried it. It is barely alive and very cloudy. Tastes insipid. Do I throw it all away again? Correction Not Cloudy. It was some beer left in the float tube. Tastes drinkable. There is still presure so maybe could be saved! ! ! !

I had problems with the valve so I bought proper top black washers extra thick and firm. I also bought large steel washers so the pressure on the washer would be evenly placed instead of the stupid steel ring that distorts the flimsy black washer that comes with the barrel. I am going grey with these **** barrels.

It's all well and good being told trust me put it in and leave it 4 weeks. Not good when 4 weeks later it's ****.

I think you are up against the same problem that a lot of people come up against with King Kegs.
I think this might be why the corny keg and others like it have become so popular.
I know that the king kegs can work really well, but they are certainly susceptible to leaks etc.
Is the beer carbonated when you pour?
Where do you store the beer when it is kegged up and ready to serve?
 
I get a bit of a head on it when pour it but it soon dispearses. don't have one of thouse sprinkler taps. The beer is inside at room temperature (21-22c). I am unable to keep it cool anywhere else and we are going into summer, however I have been brewing beer for over 50 years in total. I got the hambelton bard beer sphere with top tap and float in 1980 and it has served me well even keeping it condidtioning at room temperature. I had it 37 years.

What I have noticed recently is when lived in York (yorshire ouse river water system), If i put a large cup of sugar into the barrel it fizzes up indicating it is still very livly. Havent managed that here in Malton, but SG was about 12 on this last one before putting it into keg.

Could open it up add more sugar and reseal it? Maybe add more yeast as well? I could get Amazon to deliver yeast tomorrow. Safale S-04

As stated above the beer is not cloudy just some beer in the tube during an initial test 4 weeks ago. Maybe should have left it a few days and then tested the presure!
