Hi I'm about to start my first wine tomorrow I have sauvignon blanc (style) I'm sure it won't be amazing but is there any way of adding anything to enhance the flavour like adding lemon or other ingredients? I'm going to do the kit as instructed this time but might experiment next time!

We always keep a bottle of Cassis or Grenadine (we prefer the Tessier version) in the wine cupboard to cope with wines that are a bit too dry or acidic after fermentation. It only takes a drop or two to completely transform a wine.

Kir (as it's known in France) is very popular as an aperitif before dinner or as a pick-me-up on the way to work in the morning. :thumb: :thumb:

I like a good Marlborough with melon or similar notes and with a citrus taste, would this apply to your suggestion? Sounds nice either way when would I add this?

Not really, it's just a good way to improve the taste of a not very good wine so it is added after the wine of choice has been fermented and matured.

If you really like the taste of lemons then you might try making this ...

... and adding it in the same manner.

Or maybe even using this recipe for Lemon Wine ...

The Marlborough range of wines look to be very nice ... :thumb:

... but we tend to buy our Sauvignon Blanc in France by the 5 litre box so most of them need that little bit of "improvement"!
