Had a few pints of the above in Scarborough last weekend loved those beers so much i was wondering if anyone knew the recipes for them? They were pale bitters with a nice citrus aftertaste :thumb:

I drink Guzzler very, very regularly as one of my locals stocks it as a guest.
It's a great, easy drinking session beer.....too easy drinking some times

According to their website it is made using pale and crystal malt.
The hops are Challenger and Celeia.
I did a bit of research on the Celeia.....Slovienian Golding, bred with an Aurora and some sort of wild hop IIRC.
I don't know anything about this hop.....but my tastebuds don't have it in the same category as any golding/aurora. To me there is a fruity taste....almost tropical fruit somewhere between a Willamette and Amarillo.

I was also surprised to see Challenger in there. I can't pick it up at all....maybe it is masked by the later hops.

ABV is 3.6%, so I'd probably start with a recipe of about 30 IBU with 20-22 IBU comming from the 90 min challenger and then the balance from the later hops.....see what that turns out like and then tweek from there.
I don't detect any late challenger hops.
From the colour of it I would suggest around 3% crystal to start.......have you got any brewing software to play around with the recipe?

Just to add.....waste of time emailling York Brewery for additional info. I've tried twice without any joy

Yes we have beer engine to mess with the recipe but we would need a replacement for the slovenian wild hops i just dont think the taste will be the same without them but thanks for the info :thumb:

I was thinking about this again last night.
If you use Challenger to bitter; a late addition of Willamette would get quite close IMO.
Willamette was bred from a fuggle.....fuggle was used to grow Slovienian Stryrian Golding (seedless fuggle)....aurora are 'super styrians'.
That was my logic last night anyway after a few Punks

Will be a good drink I think and I will have a go myself with something along these line to enter in the Spring Thing.

Hi,

Celeia are one of the three hops that make up Styrian Goldings, the others being Bobek and Savinski. All have a citrus note to varying degrees and both Celeia and Bobek are easily available.

Sounds like a nice pint!
