looking for recomendation on a decent cider kit. I've never done a cider so don't know what to go for. Don't want anything fancy, just a nice crisp apple cider.

Don't buy a kit
I go to Lidl buy 24 l of pasteurised apple juice
In the fv
24 lt apple juice
pectolaise 30 g
Young's nutrient 20g
Wilco white wine yeast sachet of
Leave to ferment out (a week)
Leave for a further week
Rack it
Then bottle it(I use 2l sparkling water bottles)
Once bottled add 10g of brewing sugar to each 2l bottle and leave in a warm place for two weeks. The transfer to a cooler place to settle.

The result a lovely fizzy appley super dry cider with an abv of around 7%
I get 20 l for £15

I wonder how many new cider brewers have screen shot the above post?? Cheers

I use Tescos `pure' apple juice. No additives of any kind. Just tip it into a sanitised fermenting bin and add a proper cider yeast. Makes a nice, very dry, cider of about 6.5%.

I’ve just been given several kgs of Bramley apples and forraged some crab apples. Put them through the cider press (very easy to build) and got around 9ltrs. I’ve taken a couple of litres for cyser and just added cider yeast to the rest. It’s bubbking away nicely.
