Bad film yeast infection wot do you think ???????????? :wha:
not mine but guy up north of me

Well this is my first real lot of spoilt cider in three years and its quite a lot. This barrel was not sulphited in an attempt to make a 100% natural cider....... A film yeast has got in and now I have 180 litres of cider that distinctly smells of nail polish! Its been decanted and sulphited with 50ppm dose but I think theres very little to do for it apart from the pour it down the drain. Disappointing but another thing learnt.

I had the same this year in two five gallon batches, I racked it twice after the yeast formed and used campden tabs then bottled in two litre bottles, tasted ok. Think I let the apples stand to long after picking.

my apples was stored for at least 7-14 days as long as loads air around them will be ok then wash in water sorted out **** ones then through garden shredder :thumb:
