Thinking of doing a couple of lager variations whilst using one Wyeast 2124 Bohemian pack, and wondering would I be better in sealing the primary after emptying all but the bottom residue from my first brew and wait until I make my second brew in two weeks time (so that I can ditch straight on top of this), or take some yeasties from the secondary before lagering? :wha:

I think you'll be selecting less flocculent yeast if you harvest from the secondary. Two weeks is a bit long to leave a yeast cake sitting around, too. Have you considered washing the yeast from your primary right after racking, and storing that in the fridge?

Always take yeast from primary. You will need to recover the yeast and preferably wash it and store it in a sterile tub with little air space and some sterile water on top of it. it should last a few weeks like that. Don't leave it in a dirty FV for a few weeks it will get infected and be no good.

Many thanks for the guidance -will do :thumb: ...washing would be taking the sediment into a bottle with sterile water, waiting 24hours, pouring the clean part of the liquid into a subsequent bottle, then taking the clean part of this ...is that right?? :wha:
