SWMBO needs a new laundry rail (well she needs a hobby too) because I've just re-broken the old one and this time I think it's beyond fixing, and she has specifically requested a new set of good quality windscreen wipers for her car, but I think I should perhaps get something else besides.

She's got enough scent, needs to cut out the choccies, and looks better in a sweater than undies.

So come on guys, assuming she doesn't read this forum, what are you getting for your SWMBO this year?

And if any of the female contingent are reading this, we don't get hints, tell us straight, what would you really appreciate?

Yes I was thinking that if she reads the forum you won't have to buy her anything. Could you eat a turkey on your own, or manage without one, depending whether she left or threw you out , probably the later. :lol:
Here's an real idea
Last year Mrs.S wanted a new bathroom with lowered ceiling, fancy lights etc.
So I ordered some joist hangers, frame fixers and and galvanised nails to start the job off.
She was very impressed, when she felt the weight of the box, wrapped them in a big one.
When she open it, you should have seen her little face, I think I got it wrong when I said "this stuff was dirt cheap got it from Tradefix Direct"
Anyway the project has still not got underway, :evil: her not me , so this year I might get the fancy recessed lights.

Did have a little box, with some nice diamond ear rings in it, as a second present, was hoping to save this for another year, but had to use it. :thumb: :party:

That is already planned, probably for next Spring. I have almost finished installing a shower in the downstairs utility area, but you wouldn't particularly want to have to use that at the moment, glass roof means it's like an oven in Summer but a fridge in Winter.

The house also needs re-roofing next year so we have already agreed “no presents”, but I know better than to take that too literally.

We have also agreed no presents as we are doing the kitchen next year, but ne presents never really works as I can guarantee she will have got me something.

She has too much perfume, too many earrings, which she never wears, so it's all a bit tricky.

I got her a couple of CD's and some new tumblers for the kitchen as she was moaning about the fact all we had now is pint glasses.

I'm not good at pressies, I have bought her an ironing board before, and an iron, also a Carpet Shampooer. I'm still married so couldn't have gone too far wrong.

it's at about this time of year that most married men realise who much their wives know about them, and their hobbies, and how little we know about what our wives like to do.

mine also has far too many pairs of earings that hardly ever get worn, but for some reason they're always a good present. She won't wear underwear unless it's comfortable, which usually implies that it's not slinky, sexy, lacy, silky, thong like or in any other way remotely attractive. She reads books, but as far as I know doesn't have a favourite author, she has an MP3 player, but likes so many different things that making a choice of what to get runs the risk of getting something she hates. She always needs a new handbag.

you're right that we don't take hints though, she's constantly telling me that she really likes things in shops, and normally I just agree that the object is nice and that I like it too, without realising that it's a hint that I should buy if for her for Christmas.

buying clothes for her is also fraught with danger, as you have to get the size exactly right, and the right colour and style, etc, and considering she can go out shopping all day and visit every shop on Oxford st, and still only come back with 2 items, and she knows what she's looking for, for us with half an hour in Top Shop, on Christmas Eve, it's almost impossible.

of course it's the thought that counts, so if you think about it, whilst sat in the pub watching the football, that's ok.

before now I've wrapped a small block of wood in masking tape, and written a small note on it saying that in January, I'll promise to buy her a new laptop, to her specifications, and wrapped that up for her. Techinically I've then bought her a new laptop for christmas, without spending any money, and can get a cheaper one in the sales.

We also agreed no presents, house to do up, new car, big wedding for daughter next year............but as we all know "no presents" doesn't mean "no presents" :?
Think Christmas or the commercial hyp, needs banning, on orders, I have just done a 10 mile trip to get a pork pie and sausage meat, it was like Russia, a que out the door and down the street. Not for me, our turkey will not get stuffed and I will have weetabix on Christmas morning as usual, I am back home empty handed. :lol:

We also agreed a no pressie policy about 3 years ago and have stuck to it. After 34 years of marriage ideas are hard to come by. Makes life a lot easier now.

Made a hot chocolate gift set by buying some mugs with hearts on, expensive hot chocolate, cooking chocolate to shave on top, whipped cream, mini marshmellows and some toppings. all from morrisons, cost about 14 quid including the box.

on top o' that, hair curlers and the hangover 2 on dvd. we're not particularly romantic. it's all about having money to go out and get drunk :)

All I have is an ex wife who refuses to let me have a divorce because she thinks I am inheriting the farm . While she remains a dear friend to me despite that , I shall be getting her a combination of Jack and **** for christmas .

To be honest , I just bought her some peanut M&Ms from the Spar ....that'll have to do .

I enjoyed reading all the posts here , my favourite was where Moley mentioned "re-breaking" - excellent phrase ! Like Oscar Wilde told the fan that told him "I wish I had said that" ....."You will , my dear , you will" and I shall . Thats my christmas present

Me and the missus don't do Xmas and Bday presents, its that long since I bought he anything I can't remember what it was I bought her, (I do remember the Rollocking she gave me for wasting my money on her though, funny buggers women)

We spend the money on the Kids, & make sure they have a good Xmas.
