chitosan for finning?

Ive got a sachet of youngs finnings and am planning on clearing my next beer I've read the packet and the chitosan is the main ingriedient. a quick google shows that this is from shrimps shells. I'm not bothered by that at all but am interested to know if this is what most finnings are made from and what about comecial finnings I know a few vegies who might not fancy my home brew anymore

Apart from that chitosan (derived from shrimps and crab shells), other finings commonly used in brewing and winemaking are isinglass (derived from fishes' swim bladders) and gelatine (derived from animal bones).

Bentonite is ‘veggie friendly’ as that's a type of volcanic clay. That can be used as a late finings or to combat protein hazes, but is frequently added at the beginning of fermentation,and is contained within some of the Yeast Compounds.

Strictly speaking, finings don't need to be mentioned on any commercial ingredients labelling as they aren't present in the finished product. Makes you wonder though, doesn't it?

The best clearing agent is time, which usually works pretty well if you add enough of it.
