I want a no-rinse for bottling in a week or or so as i only have VWP and really dont want to rinse 40 bottles 3 times a piece.

However can only find starsan for ~£10 with £6 postage (which is the killer!)

I need nor want any other bits at the moment so it needs to be ordered on its own.. any recommendations for somewhere with a reasonable postage price for the 8oz bottle?

Try here http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/cgi ... 1_21960003

They have the bigger bottle here http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/cgi ... 1_21960004

Should be £3.12 for delivery...

Personally even when I don't really need something I order something anyway as lots of little delivery fees really do stack up. So I usually order my next brew even if its a way off.

I had the same problem and whilst VWP is very good it is a pain to rinse over and over, so for my last bottling session I invested in a bottle rinser and while at the LHBS - Morley home brew, picked up some no rinse sanitiser called Brew Safe it looks like VWP but doesn't leave you gasping for breath on opening the packet.
The Brew Safe was £3.29 and with this the bottle rinser and a bottle tree it knocked about an hour off!
here is a pic of the stuff

Hope this is some use. :hat:

That Brewsafe stuff says it's sodium percarbonate which is what the oxi cleaners are made of. I'm not sure it's really recommended as a sanitiser. I also notice you have to leave things to soak for 10 minutes whereas Starsan only needs 30 seconds. Plus it will actually cost more in the long run than Starsan.

Agreed. I used my Star San for the first time yesterday to rinse out 45 bottles. With the bottle rinser it is an absolute breeze. I bought the smallest bottle I could find and can't really see me running out in the next couple of years!! Brilliant stuff. :thumb:

It will work out cheaper, I only bought this stuff as I was looking for something other than VWP and it was in the LHBS, so I thought i'd give it a try. It did the job but i will be investing in some Starsan in the future at some point. :hat:

I was in the same boat, so I ordered a 500ml bottle of Videne from Lloyds pharmacy for just under £10. It arrived in a a couple of days, so I just collected it on the way home from work. Most pharmacies (inc in-store supermarket ones) can order it in for you - just make sure you get the Antiseptic Solution and not the Tincture. See Cleaners / Sterilisers Dilution Rates and Uses Guide for more information.

It's also worth getting some small syringes for measuring out the small quantities. I read somewhere that pharmacies can also sell you a bung for when you've used so much, the syringe can't reach the fluid.

I'll try Star San when the Videne runs out, but that may take a few years. This is WAY cheaper and more convenient than the packets of Sodium Percarbonate I was using - these require 10 minutes contact time, and (apparently) do not kill spores.
