Cheapest overall online retailer for ingredients?

There are a hell of a lot of retailers online to buy grains, hops, and yeast from. Currently I am using GetErBrewed.com because they have quite a useful Build Your Own All Grain Recipe creator. Their prices seem to be on the cheaper side of things.

I don't necessarily want to buy in bulk yet as I don't think I brew enough to justify that. But has anybody actually worked out which is the cheapest online retailer while also factoring in the delivery costs. Some charge up to £7 delivery which is nearly the same cost as the ingredients for a cheap 19L batch.

I think for grain , you will find GetErBrewed is cheapest. Unless you buy 25KG at once, than you can find better deals. Some will offer free deliver if order is £60 or above.
Malt Miller does Royal Mail for £3.60 up to 600g - so if you need hops, small amount of grain etc.

Depends what you want. Unfortunately I don't think there is one some supplier fitting my latest needs.

Cml - no postage so good for hops and dry yeast. Yeast is limited to their own brand. Hops are dearer than GEB.

GEB - delivery costs ate high bit their hop prices are low and have some interesting new varieties. But no Simpson malts. PLENTY of yeast options.

HBC - grain is cheap and they sell Simpson's. Hops are more than expensive tho. Plenty of yeast choice.

Remember of buying in bulk that 30kg isn't much which can lead to more costs.

Geterbrewed always come out cheapest for me. They also have a huge range of products. Unfortunately there always seems to be one or two things that they don't have that Malt Miller does. Both are doing great stuff and I love how innovative Geterbrewed are.

I have been going more with Malt Miller recently as the delivery is quicker and I'm yet to have any mistakes with any of my orders from them (famous last words). They also stock Imperial Yeast which is a deal-breaker for me.

My malt I get from MM,plus some hops and yeast. I do get most of my hops from CML.
I'd go for quality and service primarily...not knocking what anyone else uses but I like what I get.

Exactly that for me. Malt and yeast from the MM as you get free shipping without spending too much.

I agree. I tend to spend between £30-50 an order. I tend to only be able to plan a brew or two ahead. I don't like having ingredients sitting around for too long either. Quite often I'll buy my malt and yeast from MM and hops from CML.

I bloody hate paying for delivery.

With all the problems I’ve had with Parcelforce’s delivery I should really be looking to switch suppliers but being a typical accountant I’m not prepared to pay almost a third more for the same product.

It galls me that things can cost so much more. Sabro hops that both have just got in are a good example. Nearly twice as expensive with MM.

I like THBC but they haven't moved with the times. No recipe ordering tool so you end up having to over-order.

I, too, find Hookhead malts first class, and at around £20 a sack, they're amazing value for money. They offer up to 31Kg for a single delivery charge, which is higher than MM or BrewUK, but the difference is quickly made up. DPD delivery to France is a bit hit and miss: the best I had was 2 days, but it's normally 8 or so. Once, the driver entered somebody's house some 25 km away and left the package in the middle of the lounge and signed my name just because he knew they were English!!! But that's life, I think MM also use DPD. I used GEB once and I was very impressed, but they don't do some of the things I want eg. I wanted some Nelson Sauvin for a Punk IPA clone, but they don't seem to do them.

I use The Homebrew Company. Downside £70 for free delivery, so I have to plan ahead. Upside cheapest for all the stuff I want. Plus small Forum discount. Big range of stuff. And I don't find their hops expensive in fact the ones I use are less cash than CML.
But I do use CML for yeast apart from the occasional Wilko Gervin Ale yeast.
