So I got some cheap and nasty whiskey, bourbon to be exact, and my question is, if I mix it with some sort of fruit juice in the bottle, how long would it last? Basically making a whiskey punch. It's undrinkable as it is so I would probably just send it down the drain if it won't keep in the bottle.

What sort of bourbon is it? I love my bourbon and suspect you might just be being soft

I use the cheap and chatty stuff to make an infusion with sugar syrup and cinnamon. I've also added Apple to it and left it until the apple was a vile looking mess and the bottom. Filter it through a coffee filter and bottle. Tastes like Apple pie.!

It's called John Lee, bloody awful stuff, I'm a single malt snob to be fair.

So if I was to add some flavouring like cinnamon, and some sort of juice like apple juice to it, how long would it last? Will it go bad or not?

I've added cloves and cinnamon to a rum, but I used it in a turbo cider, lol

just make a Manhattan cocktail with it:
2-4 parts bourbon
1 part red vermouth
dash of bitters
(optional dash of syrup from the cherrys if you like a bit of sweetness)
shaken with some ice
maraschino cherry on stick

2 or 3 of them and it will taste great.

I know I can mix it with something in a glass, but that's not the point, if I manage to make a decent drink out of it, will it last for any length of time stored in a bottle?

Here's a decent recipe:

Take:

0 Parts John Lee Bourbon
2 Parts, your favorite Single Malt
Add a drop or 2 of water

Consume

Ditch the 2 parts water and replace with a single ice cube , that sounds good, even this early in the morning

I really don't like whisky and never have i only drink it at Christmas when i partake of a glass or three of Baileys.

This is an interesting read even if you don't like it..

If you go to a distillery (in Scotland at least), they give you a pipette with your whisky - even a couple of drops completely changes the smell and taste of the whisky.

Much of the whisky I buy is over 50% alcohol. If you don't put a drop of water in it, it's just a burning sensation in the mouth. Which is a bit of a waste at £50 a bottle.

This one, I highly recommend.

£50 a bottle.

I would want one this size for £50.

Each to their own. Enjoy your Whisky (or due to your user name, you might prefer a fine Whiskey) in good health, whichever way :thumb:
