Looks like the main TV's kaput, all of us were watching IAC and it switched its self off. Switched on okay an hour after, but its not having it today :(

Can't really complain as its a six year old lcdtv, though the old Sony is still going strong after 16 years, now relegated to the bedroom.

We'll have to pop in to town tonight and get one from Tesco, Asda etc. Could do without the expense at this time of year :|

Anyone seen any bargains about?

Got mine from ebuyer. VISITRON 32" lcd HD ready built in freeview for £329 2 years on and had no problems yet (touch wood) :thumb:

we bought the eldest boy a 28" tesco tv and he is happy with it, although I do not think it very nice to look at.

We also bought a LG 32" for the kitchen from amazon. very happy.

Its a LG Shane, so well over due an upgrade.....The lads going to strip it down tomorrow night and try and fix it for his Xbox.

We had a trundle around the shops tonight and picked up a Sony 37" for £400 from Curry's, though I nearly walked away several times with the diabolical pushy salesman pushing cover or upgrades ...Suppose he's only trying make a living, but no means no

Then it was a bugger to attach the speakers, Wii, playstation and worst of all the network cable......Mrs Mc not happy with me drilling holes when Corrie was on.

Dead chuffed with it though, playstation style menu, picture in picture, Youtube, Iplayer and freeview HD (though with my eyesight I can't tell the difference) etc etc

Things seem to have come along since I was watching my B&W 14" Tv, not that long ago

No Worries, there is not much inside an LCD to go wrong its usually a blown capacitor or the backlight that packs up, I had both faults on my samasung, the second one was an easy fix, I just snipped the offending capacitor off the backlight, & it works np the LCD obviously didn't need it.

When I first met my wife in her house they had an old in a wooden box type TV. It did though have a remote. However this remote was not all it would seem. In order to change channels you had to be airbourne, if you were touching anything other than the remote it would not work.

So, to show willing (as you do) I agreed to spend some evenings watching a bit of TV with the family.

I thought they were ****** bonkers untill i found out about the remote! I'd be sat on the sofa, then her mom would leap out of the chair about 2 inches and the channel would change, better still there would be repeated leaps to turn the volume up.

Imagine me, sat there, like this was normal stuff. Wide eyed and bemused.

I'm sorry it adds no value to the thread, but thought i'd share.

No problems mate :thumb:

It reminded me of the time for the 1990 worldcup I saw a second hand wood surround 28" TV in radio rentals for £60.

Took four of us to lift and manoeuvre it in to a two bed flat only for the thing to go green screen half way through a Brazil match. Think we watched the rest of the game on some ones Casio mini screen :wha:
