Hi All,

Just a quick question. I began my first kit brew last week with the intention of bottling the results. After reading many posts on here I have decided to get a nice shiny corny for the next batch. The problem in the meantime is that I do not have sufficient glass bolltles for this brew and dont want to waste money buying any more. I have seen cheap bottles of ASDA Smartprice squash @ 22p for 750ml. Would these bottles be ok for beer? They are clear but I can easily keep them out of the sun.

Thanks in advance for your help

Garry

Best off going for 2ltr cheap fizzy water/fizzy pop, as these are more likely to be able to cope with pressure (I heard somewhere that a 2ltr coke bottle can cope with over 110psi!!!!)

Will Squash bottles handle the pressure created by priming?

Asda sell 2 litre sparkling water for 12p a bottle - thats what I've just used to bottle up this morning.

Don't forget to keep them away from direct light seeing as they're see-through plastic.

Myth Busters did a thing on the amount of pressure a PET bottle can handle. They were almost spherical before they burst.

Thanks for the replies, I think i will just go with the 2L bottles. It looks like fermentation has stalled :( at 1016 so I may not be in as much of a hurry as I had previously thought.
