Guys,

Newbie here. I have started brewing AG lagers and have successfully brewed a Belgium lager and a German pilsner but I would really like to brew a spanish or Portuguese cerveza. I'm bit unsure about hop selection and crushed malts.
Any suggestions?

Firstly welcome to the forum fatbob

Lager isn't a style I like myself but the reciepe in my Greg Hughes books has:

Pilsner malt, Carapils Malt and flaked maze for the grist and for the hops, Norther Brewer and Crystal as the bittering hop again Crystal as the flavour/aroma

Probably not what you want but the Wilko Mexican kit is excellent IMO. (I know its a kit:oops:)

I'll second that.. I've brewed 3 lots of the Wilko Cerveza in the last year...

I add 1kg of brewing sugar and 500g of Light Spraymalt as the fermentables and it comes out great... Crystal Clear and if I brew if up a little short, smack on 5% ABV.

I found it ferments really quick at 19 degrees too (usually done in 7 days), then with the stuff I put in the Corny, it's good to drink after 2 weeks. More like another 4 weeks for the bottles though.

Enjoy...

I'll third that as well. Brewed the Wilko kit with 1kg Brewing Sugar and 500g Light Spray Malt. Dry hopped with Cascade which added a nice floral/citrus aroma and a bit of flavour as well.

Left mine for 3 weeks before bottling as I was away but it's cleared really well after about a week of conditioning.

Primed it a bit heavy though so needs to be well chilled before opening but tastes really very nice, and came out at 5% or there abouts as well.
