Hi all has anyone had a problem with the colour of the cellar 7 range particularly with the sauv blanc mine has turned out rather dark please see attached photo with a pinot grigio as colour reference. The wine itself is not unpleasant as it's only been in the bottle a week

Thanks chippy but is it normal for a sauv blanc to be that colour sorry I am quite new to wine making

Can't help with the kit but I have bought sauv blanc that colour in restaurants

It looks perhaps a little dark but as her indoors said when i did this kit "it looks like someone has peed in the bottle" :-?

The pinot version is somewhat lighter (just finished one myself) but as long as the sauv blanc tastes ok i wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks engineer I may try the Pinot was it any good

Its only been stored about 2 weeks but was drinkable immediately. It has a somewhat more delicate taste than the sauv blanc in my opinion but i wait to see what her indoors thinks of it, will probably open a few at xmas.

I've used this kit and the colour is the same as yours. You are of course comparing different wines. However, I have recently found 'contains milk' printed on some commercial wine labels. They have to state this because some people are allergic to dairy milk, which contains casein. This is used to remove colour, to make white wine whiter instead of yellow.
There are reasons why white wine may darken. Old stock of concentrate, excessive exposure to heat and/or strong sunlight, use of ferrous metal in the winemaking process and oxidation. The latter is particularly the case with fresh pressed apple juice.

I have just cracked open another bottle and I must say it is improving quite a tasty tipple

I'd highly recommend Kenridge kits worth paying a little bit more for them

Ive never had a problem with the KenRidge kits! they are fantastic quality and like you said, deffo worth the extra few quid. ive recently been brewing 'Vinifera Noble' by Mosti Mondiale.. have you brewed one yet?? they are also 10L and 16L kits. they even do a full 23L pure juice kit!! (Got one of those for christmas) EXCITED!
