Hi all.

I'm looking for advice or experience of the same problem.

I started a cellar 7 wine kit fermenting 11 days ago (my first brewing efforts) and it's still fermenting. The airlock is bubbling less frequently than it has been and there are still bubbles rising in the fermentation bucket.

I am guessing that a 7 day kit doesn't always do as it says on the box side.......?

Do I leave it be to stop bubbling

Cheers

Anthony

They rarely (if ever) finish in seven days even in summer so i wouldn't worry about it just leave it to ferment out.
If you have a hydrometer check the sg and if its below 0.995 or thereabouts it finished fermenting.
If you don't have a hydrometer then you can go old school and simply taste it, if its a little sweet give it more time.

Hi engineer,

Thanks for that.....I had guessed 7 days was optimistic, but was beginning to wonder if going beyond 10.would be an issue. I'll hold on until it stops and then move it to secondary fermenter and then bottle......just anxious to make sure first batch is reasonable (keeps my chief taster happy!!)

Cheers

Anthony

Hi cellar 7 was the first kits I started with over 7 years ago there a good starting point what style have you made?

Yeh, sounds about right, I started with those kits a couple of years ago...

Doesn't really matter how long you leave it in the primary, so long as it's airlocked it won't go off 😀

Hi all.

Thanks for that yellow belly....good to know I'm making a good choice for a first attempt. I have gone for the summer berries rosè.

Thanks Roddy & Razor. Since I posted the airlock has stopped and the surface bubbles cleared. I have gotten the hydrometer out and it's reading 0.940 so I think I'm going to move it to the 2nd fermentation bucket, knock out the CO2 and add the stabiliser etc......

It sounds like I can't go too wrong with this kit for a first timer
