10 years ago today, I started all grain brewing - hey thanks technology for reminding me of this milestone!
Started out with a cool box mash tun and a pot on the stove, and had to chill the wort in an ice bath. Had really no good temperature control on anything at all. And the very first beer I made was a (Greg Hughes recipe) pumpkin ale! How I didn't get a stuck sparge is beyond me! It was a tasty brew though and I was hooked.
Brewing today with my trusty Grainfather G30, and my glycol chiller and conical fermenter system. Not a pumpkin ale today, but I have made a few of these over the years. A few gold, silver and bronze medals in competitions over the years, and I think I am slowly knowing what I am doing Still make plenty of cockups, but all part of the experience!
