Clive is well out of touch, and from the tone of his article does not support any LHBS anyway.

He also needs to get his facts correct. If he can buy hops at 40p per 100g I should be buying them from him! I would have expected a little more research for such an article.

Correct Jim Craft Brewing Association

its not a bad read 4 times a year.

I did think the Glasgow article was a bit large and self promotional, to be honest, the rest was pretty good though.

Thanks Shane, I'm glad you enjoyed it. ;)

To be honest Callum, I have yet to read all of the Glasgow article, I started to read it thought how big's this/how longs this going to take to read, saw it was nearly 4 pages long made an asumption and skipped it. hence my comments, I will have another look in the morning.

Having just had a quick peruse through it again (for 30 secs) I think the whole edition was a bit lacklustre, last 4 pages are basicly adverts.

Clive le pense needs to revist his prices from the golden age in the 70's (think he is £50-60 out on 5 KG of hops) don't think he is far out on the malt price though.

The all weather brewing article (bit laclustre too) there is better info for a quick search on google.

Looking back the Glasgow story is probably the most informative, & accurate article in the whole issue, I will see tomorrow.

 Sorry Guys

I'll make sure the next issue is up to snuff :thumb:

I think I jumped before looking there as I have yet to receive the latest BC. My article was back in the summer edition but it was also about an event in Glasgow. However even if it was mine I think that all feedback is useful to make the journal more relevant to the members.

In that case it would have been Eric Steen, the chap who did organise the event. James McCrorie was keen for him to submit an article of some description.

Hopefully that's not the case. I never gave them anything, but they may have taken something off my blog without my permission, in that case it would sound a bit self-promotional because it was intended for my blog. Maybe someone could help me by confirming this?

The blog post is at: beerandscifi.com and is probably the 2nd or 3rd post down.

I though Clive's article was completely over the top and out of order though. While there are problems with some LHBS and wholesalers being greedy there are places like The Malt Miller / Leyland / Hamstead Homebrew / Thrifty Shopper / Barley Bottom that provide great products / great service / good prices . . . Clive is well out of touch, and from the tone of his article does not support any LHBS anyway

I don't think the article was targeted at the sorts of shops you've listed Aleman. As a whole I think it was fairly accurate (apart from the prices quoted), as is your comment
While there are problems with some LHBS and wholesalers being greedy
though I think the 'some' should be a lot more generous. Shops like those listed above are revolutionising the way we buy our producs, and I for one, feel a lot easier about parting with my cash when it's more proportionate to the cost price, plus room for 'reasonable' mark up. At the end of the day the shopper will decide with their pocket and quite rightly so.

Why Vossy?? Has the quality gone down hill
I think md is better placed than me for recent purchases, but they're very 'hit and miss' IMO.
