Has anyone had any problems with pots from this company? They have been recommended on the forum, and I know lots of people use them, but I have also heard through the Bristol group that some people have had dodgy welds and that the quality can be variable.

Any bad experiences?

No bad experiences here.

Sure a couple of pots have been 'dinged' in transit, and one of my 100L pots have a poorly polished weld where the base of the pot meets the side, which can rust. Other than that no issues here.

I have the following

80L Thermobox
50L Thermobox
38L Thermobox (x 2)
24L Thermobox (x 2)
6L Thermobox
100L Pot (x2)

That's good to hear so far. The issues I heard about were to do with pin-holes in the welds - basically poorly finished.

I am due to order very soon, so wanted to check it out!

I think considering the prices they are good value for money. I have heard of people sending them back but didnt have any problems doing that and getting a refund. I dont think these pots would last very long in a catering kitchen tho..

in a catering kitchen I wouldnt worry we use and scrub the pots every day but when brewing we dont want the caroding bits> them french pots look great i wouldnt think you would get much probs but i dont have one>> who has them and who can describe the finish?>>>>????

I do know Vossy had a couple of issues with his with Pin Holes, and There was another brewer in Wigan that had three pots fail with pin holes . . .I his case that was some time ago and resolved quickly

Well, I'm not going to let it put me off - I'll suck it and see. They sound good value and easy to maintain. Someone has mentioned Malt Miller's pots as being very sturdy, but they are over my budget now.

Let's see what happens, and hope that the recent veto doesn't affect the quality or delivery!

I believe the Malt Millers pots are the ebay france ones.

I have 2 from the Malt Miller, which he did the conversion work on, and they are great, but I'm fairly sure they are the ebay france pots.

im just about to ship some pots in
so ill wait and see, then ask you lads to offer comparisons

as all this talk about quality is interesting

i did email france and they could not even tell me the quality of stainless used, and i very much doubt they could tell me the thickness either

Well, they seem to sell enough of them, and there are plenty of brewers out there happy with them. It would, as you say, be interesting to compare notes upon delivery. Also interesting to hear MaltMiller's might be the eBay ones. as I doubt he would use them if they weren't up to the job.

A few final tweaks and checks to be made in terms of the design and then I can order. I am basically umming and arring about the size of the Mash Tun at present. I was going to use a 50L Thermos, but might go up to a 60 or even 70L. We'll see.

I had a 70l delivered last week, very quick delivery and a good pot.

I'm more worried about my pig tail elements that have not been properly chromed.

For the price you can't beat the pots from Nordic/Catering FR. So far I've used 4 x 100ltrs, 2 x 70ltrs, 1 x 50ltr pots
I've had issues, not all the same, and they were quickly rectified, I complained, but said I could fix them, and they offered me a refund so I was only paying 1/3rd the price.....problems

2 100ltr pots with pin holes. These were not obvious at first as the holes were filled with some sort of black paste from the manufacturing/polishing process, problem was on heating the paste dissolved and sprung a leak  I fixed mine with JB Weld

More worryingly for me my 100ltr HLT has an 'impurity' running through the stainless in the base causing it to rust. I've ground this down twice and I'm now on thin ice as the pot is very thin in that area.

If any of you guys store your pots in a garage where the temp can fluctuate and cause condensation to run down and gather under the pot, simply turn your pots upside down when not in use :thumb:

Overall, very happy with them and the alternatives are very expensive, but you pay for quality, simples

I have 2x 70L potsm and 1 38.5L thermo pot. Granted the finish isnt perfect but cant grumble on price and none have pin holes. The 38.5L comes with a plastic handled tap wrapped up inside the pot. Mine was snapped in transit. I explained and sent a photo and they said it couldnt possibly be broken in transit. I'd have thought that too but it was. I didnt bother pushing th issue as it makes no difference. I dont use the tap anyway.
