Hoorah!

Some of you may remember me gearing up to get pots and things A LONG, LONG time ago.

Well, last night, with a lot of help from Mr. Lard, I built a 5.5kW boiler out of a 70L SS pot. Hoorah! Just need to borrow the right Q-Max cutter and I can make my HLT after summer hols. I have a natty sight-glass kit to fit to it.

Then, just need to do a coolbox conversion for MT and build an immersion chiller. Easy!

Hoorah! The Castle pOtO brewery is underway! Photos to be added soon.

i wonder who that was :wha:

I will edit the original entry (now done!) so that 'a little help' reads 'a huge amount of help'. :D Seeing as you did virtually all the drilling! I will pull more weight with the HLT build.

It's sitting on the 'brewing platform' (old TV unit with wheels) looking gorgeous today. I love brew porn ;)

Have been brewing nicely with this, though need to sort my MT out. Having problems with a list of parts I was working from, as I can't get 1/2" silicone washers anyway. Can anyone recommend anywhere that does them? I have a 50qt Coleman Xtreme coolbox, so have to use something I can tighten against plastic, hence the need to work with silicone.

ANYHOW! My HLT and boiler are working a treat, and borrowed MT and chiller were fab. Building my chiller very soon. Will post photos of the set up and how it works on my next brew day.

Having LOTS of fun with it all :D

Good to hear all's going well P

I got fed up of looking and decided to make my own. I note you have 3mm silicone rubber for sale, didn't it work for you :hmm:

No, because I found out it wasn't food-grade, so can't use it on the inside! Need to adjust the ad accordingly

I could just buy a silicone cooking thing from Lakeland and cut it up! Apparently they are easy to get in the US, and I know someone who might be possibly be going. Maybe I will ask nicely :D

A lot of the silicone products in the U.K are food grade but aren't tested to the standard due to the costs involved, so I was told when quizzing a chap from Polymax. They also won't test to FDA standards if they don't sell in the US, or aren't selling for an application where the product is exported to the US. They won't state food grade on their webby as it's not tested as such,
